DUI/TRAFFIC CASES

Most people do not realize that as of January, 2006, if you are caught driving drunk, and you do not have a license or insurance, then you will be charged with a felony. This affects many of our Hispanic clients.

Court Wins

People v.  Siddiqui - Felony DUI, 09C330829
NOT GUILTY  Rolling Meadows
Schaumburg Police found our client passed out behind the wheel of a parked car with the engine running. Based on our client's background, he was charged with a felony which carried a minimum of three years in prison. We took the case to trial and proved to the Judge that our client was not driving that evening.

People v.  Kopelas - DUI, TP459010
NOT GUILTY  Chicago Daley Center
Police pulled our client over on the north side of Chicago while he was driving home from a family party. Police claimed that our client failed all the field sobriety tests and was too drunk to drive. We took the case to trial and beat the statutory summary suspension to get his driving privileges back, and then beat the DUI charges at trial.

People v.  Dixon - Felony Driving on Revoked DL, 05CR-1874
DISMISSED  26th/California
Police accused our client of driving with a revoked license based on a prior DUI. After researching the previous case, we corrected his record, and all felony driving charges were dismissed.

People v.  Winslow - Felony Aggravated DUI, 09CR-13720
DISMISSED  Bridgeview Courthouse
Because our client had numerous prior DUIs, he was charged with a Class 2 Felony. Our client did not blow into the breathalyzer, and refused all field sobriety tests. Because of the lack of evidence, we convinced the State's Attorney to dismiss the Felony DUI.

People v.  Garcia - Felony DUI
DISMISSED  Maywood Courthouse
Cicero Police arrested our client for driving under the influence of alcohol. He was charged with a felony because he had no license. At the preliminary hearing we had the case dismissed due to our cross examination of the Cicero Police officer.

People v.  Jackson - DUI, TJ-457-316
NOT GUILTY  Daley Center
Chicago Police accused our client of driving under the influence of drugs on Lake Shore Drive. We were able to bring a drug specialist into court who showed that the police officer lied about our client being under the influence.
